FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
Registration, Payment, and Course FAQ's:
Q. Will my registration information be secure and private? A. Yes. Your personal information will not be shared with any third party. Our site adheres to the strictest security measures for transmitting information on the Internet. Your personal information and email address will not be shared with any third party.
Q. What forms of payment do you accept? A. You can pay for the course using your Visa or Mastercard credit or debit card. We also accept American Express, Discover, and e-checks through PayPal. We also accept payment through Western Union.
Q. I do not have a credit card. How can I pay for the course? A. If you have a bank card with a Visa or Mastercard logo on it, you can use that. You also can pay from your bank account through PayPal. You can also use Western Union to send us payment. If none of these options are available to you, please email us to make other arrangements.
Q. I am not in the U.S. Can I still take the course? A. Absolutely. We accept foreign credit cards for payment, and we are happy to send your certificate of completion anywhere in the world. If you do not have a credit card, Western Union has offices all over the world where you can send your payment to us.
Q. I need to take more than one of your courses. How do I do that? A. You can pay for one, two, or three courses at the same time, and you will receive a $15 discount. Once you have completed one course, go to the web site for the other course and press the "Click here to log in" button. You will have already been registered for the second course and can begin immediately.
Q. What is the timer at the top of the each page for? A. There is a timer that records time spent per chapter and a second timer that records total time for the course. The State of New York requires that you must spend at least two hours on the course. In addition, each chapter has a minimum time requirement.
Q. Do I have to complete the course in one session or within a certain period of time? A. No. Log on and off as many times as you wish. The timer feature keeps track of both total time and time spent on each chapter regardless of how many times you log off and log back in. You may take as long as you wish to complete the course.
Q. Is there an exam for completion of the course? A. Yes. It is a multiple-choice test. For the Violence Workshop and the Child Abuse Workshop, the test is not graded. For the Needs of Students With Autism Course, the passing grade is 60%.
Q. What is the official certificate and what do I do with it? A. After you complete the course, you can either print your own certificate of completion or have it mailed to you if you do not have access to a printer or do not have Adobe Acrobat installed on your computer. Fill in the rest of your personal information, including your SSN and date of birth, and sign and date the certificate. You must mail the copy marked "Send to the State" to the state along with or following your license/certification application. The second copy is for your own records. If an employer requests a copy, make a photocopy of your copy for them. Please keep your copy in a safe place.
Q. When do I receive my certificate? A. You can print your own certificate as soon as you complete the course, or have it mailed to you. If mailed, it will arrive in 7 to 10 business days.
Q. I finished the course, but do not have a printer. Can I print my certificate somewhere else? A. Yes, you can log into any computer using your email and password and print your certificate. It is usually much faster to use a computer at a friend's, at work, or at the library to print your certificate, instead of waiting for it to be mailed. However, we are happy to mail certificate to those who do not have a printer, and there is no charge for this service.
Q. When I finished the course, I was not given the choice of printing my own certificate. Why not? A. You need the Adobe Acrobat Reader to print your own certificate. Over 99% of computers have this installed. However, if you do not, we detect this and offer to mail you a certificate, or you can go to another computer and print it there.
Q. I don't have Adobe Acrobat on my computer - Can you help me install it so I can print my own certificate? A. We are happy to mail you a certificate if you cannot print it yourself, but we are unable to assist you with installing Adobe Acrobat. If you wish to try it yourself, it is available at http://get.adobe.com/reader/. If you do this, please read the instructions carefully - there are other optional packages that are installed by default, but you can choose to not download them.
Q. I printed my certificate, but when do I get my "real" certificate? A. The certificate you print yourself is identical to the mailed certificate. In fact, we simply print out the same document you do, and mail it to you. The state will accept your certificate regardless of where it was printed. We offer mailed certificates for those customers that do not have access to a printer.
Q. What do I do with my certificate? A. Complete instructions are printed with the certificate. You must write your social security number and date of birth on your certificate BEFORE mailing a copy to the State of New York.
Q. What if I my certificate is delayed or lost in the mail? A. Printing your own certificate is the easiest and fastest way to get your certificate. If you do request a mailed certificate, contact us by email if your certificate is not received within 10 business days (14 business days outside the U.S.) of your course completion date.
Q. Do I have to send anything back to you? A. No. Do not send anything back to us. You only need to send the certificate to the state.
Q. I have lost my certificate. What can I do? A. Simply log into the course using the same email address and password you registered with. You can print an additional copy. You can also request another mailed copy once you log in. If you have forgotten your password, the login screen has a link to have your password mailed to you. Remember that "PassWord" is not same as "password" - you must enter your password with the same upper and lower case letters as you did when you created it.
Q. Is this the right workshop for me? The name is slightly different from what I thought it was. A. The Schools Against Violence in Eduction workshop is known by many names: SAVE Workshop, S.A.V.E. Workshop, Safe Schools Against Violence in Education, Violence Prevention Workshop, and many others. The Identification and Reporting of Child Abuse Workshop is also known as: Child Abuse Prevention Workshop, Abuse Prevention Workshop, Mandated Reporter Workshop, and many others. These are simply different names for the exact same courses.
